Which tracker should you actually use?
We make one of these, so treat the recommendation accordingly. What we can do is be straight about the trade-offs — including the cases where you should pick something else, because you'll find out within a day and be annoyed we didn't say.
The short version. Want a community — reviews, comments, automatic scrobbling? Use Trakt. Only watch television and want a review feed? Serializd. Want a free utility that imports your old library, keeps shows and films together and tells you when the next episode airs? That's what we built.
The bit everyone asks about first
TV Time shut down on 15 July 2026 and deleted its data, so any list still recommending it is out of date. If you saved an export before then, it can still be imported. If you didn't, that history is gone — no service can retrieve it.

Rival products change, and a competitor is the last party who should be describing your feature list — if something here is wrong or out of date, email support@tv-tracker.uk and we'll correct it. A dash means we don't have a confident answer rather than "no".
One thing we won't claim
You'll see "works in your browser" sold as a differentiator. Against the newer mobile-only trackers, it is. Against Trakt and Simkl it isn't — they've been web-first for years. Our web app is a full version of the product rather than a companion site, which matters if you don't want another install, but let's not pretend we invented it.
Pick us if…
- You're migrating and want your library moved without paying for the privilege.
- You watch shows and films and are tired of two apps.
- You want to be told when something airs — and once, not twelve times when a season lands.
- You'd rather your interface wasn't in English.
- You want a tool, not a timeline.
Don't pick us if…
- You want scrobbling. Automatic detection of what you're playing is a genuinely hard integration problem and we haven't solved it. Trakt has.
- You want to rate and review. There's no rating field at all. Letterboxd for film, Serializd for television.
- The community was the point. Following friends, comments, badges — none of it exists here, and it isn't on the roadmap.
- You want statistics. No "days watched" page.
- You want to watch something. This is a tracker. It does not play video and does not provide streams.
Common questions
Can I use TV Tracker alongside Trakt?
Yes, and plenty of people do. Importing a Trakt export doesn't touch your Trakt account and we don't sync back to it. Keep Trakt for the community, use this for the day-to-day "what's next".
How is it free? What's the catch?
There's no paid tier, no ads, and we don't sell data — see the privacy policy. Running costs are modest because metadata comes from TMDB and TVMaze and is cached server-side. If a paid option ever appears it'll be additional features; what's free today stays free.
What happens if you shut down like TV Time did?
A fair question to ask any tracker now. Your account can be deleted outright at any time from account deletion, and if you want a copy of your library, ask at support@tv-tracker.uk. The general lesson from July applies to us as much as anyone: keep an export of anything you'd hate to lose.
Where does the show data come from?
TMDB for titles, artwork and credits; TVMaze for episode air dates. Both are proxied and cached by our own API rather than called from your device.
